Population & Housing Census 2011 of Nepal: Issues and Problems
The Population Census of Nepal has a history of less than a century. During the last 90 years, Nepal, like many other countries in the world, experienced many demographic changes; the population of the country grew phenomenally. In terms of numbers, the population of Nepal was 5.6 million in 1911 which reached 23.1 million in 2001; an increase of more than four times during this period. In other words, on the average, the population of Nepal grew at a rate 2.00 percent per annum during this 90-year period. At present the growth rate of the population is 2.25 per cent per annum.
