Homes Nepal will undertake construction and management of the entire works in OMSS project that will provide multiple facilities in delivery of goods from Oakland port to other parts of California, besides providing parking facilities to more than 3,000 trucks and containers along with other related services.

The facilities consists ancillary maritime support services, including truck parking, trans-load facility, offices for trucking companies or related businesses, fuel stations, truck repair and maintenance, truck scales and related service infrastructure to be constructed in around 15 acres of land in former Oakland Army Base.

“The project will provide a sustainable solution for truck parking in Port of Oakland and meet the California state´s requirement under the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) for a huge trucking facility. It would help minimize the truck parking problem in Oakland city,” Giri said.

Homes Nepal will prepare design works and necessary equipment required for the project implementation.

Giri said that the facility will be able to cater to about 3,000 port-servicing trucks by providing food, beverage, bio-diesel fuel, parking, container storage and office space for trucking companies.

“We are planning to provide small contracts to Nepali construction companies and employ high-skilled Nepali youths,” added Giri.

Under the project contract, Homes Nepal Ltd can also acquire up to 50 percent stake of the OMSS Center after the completion of the project.
