Steel & cement prices go up

The prices of steel rod and cement, two major construction materials have started to go up from last week. One of the main reason behind the rise in price is due to nine hours of loadshedding. The manufacturers have also says the rise in steel is because of the prices in international market

Compared to the cement price went up from 535 rupees to 650 rupees, this week along the price rises to 60 - 70 per sack. Where as, the Steel rod is presently retailed at Rs 75 per kg. which was traded at Rs 62 per kg.

The prices of bricks, on the other hand, is set to go down, as manufacturers have started taking orders at lowered rates for the upcoming production season

The total cement consumption in Nepal is around 2 million tonne per year.
