Land buyers throng Chitwan

Transactions in real estate in Chitwan have nearly doubled this year with people flocking to the district to purchase land, reports RSS.

The streets around the District Land Revenue Office in Bharatpur are packed with new and expensive automobiles of people coming to the district to buy land or transfer the title deeds.

The Land Revenue Office said that they were having a hard time providing service to so many people with their existing staff. The office said that revenue collection had also gone up due to the increase in transactions.

Chitwan's central location, it being touted as the country's new capital, development of transportation, communication and education along with the pleasant climate are the major attractions drawing people to buy land in the district.

Last year, 32,811 plots of lands were registered in Chitwan. The Land Revenue Office had collected Rs. 8,056,911 in revenue in Asoj last year, while it took in Rs. 21,760,448 during the same month this year.

Though the trade in land has increased revenue collection, concerns have been raised about the long-term impact of selling agricultural land for building construction.
