4-bay facility of JCB in Kathmandu

Sales of heavy equipment have jumped in recent times amid a construction frenzy involving housing colonies and apartment buildings to infrastructure like bridges and hydel plants.

According to the data obtained from the Bagmati Zone Transportation Office, 2,016 dozers, loaders, cranes, rollers, excavators and graders have been registered with it so far. Among them, 604 were imported in the fiscal year 2009/10 alone.

In Nepali construction equipment market, JCB’s compactors and backhoe loaders have 70 per cent market share.
